Doctor Who has generated many memorable quotes but perhaps the most memorable is the 10th Doctor’s description of time from the episode Blink. The episode deals with an encounter with a scary being called the Weeping Angeles. These beings appear to be solid stone when stared at but the minute you stop looking at them they can move and attack you. In the episode the Doctor has recorded one side of an interactive conversation on video tape in the padt. A young woman who has encountered the Weeping Angels discovers that she is the other side of the conversation. The women is confused about how the Doctor in another time can be holding the conversation with her. That is when he offers the famous description of time. Here’s a clip of that quote:
The quote has spawned a creative explosion as you’ll discover if you Google an image search of “timey wimey.” In addition it has also inspired a song and video, by the group H2 Awesome, that is a tribute to the 10th doctor and his companion Rose. Here’s the description of the song and video:
In celebration of the new Doctor AND the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, we recorded a song about one of our favorite Doctor / Companion combos!
The 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler prove that Love and Time Travel might be the same thing. After all, “People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint – it’s more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly… timey wimey… stuff.”
Eventually a poster was created using the quote like the following:

Those of us who have a non-binary gender identity often find that, describing gender to people with a binary concept of gender, is as difficult as describing time, as a time traveler, to those with a linear concept of time. That has inspired an artist named Tharock to create a gender version of the famous quote which is illustrated here:

So now you have a good opening to describe gender to those stuck with a binary concept of gender. Those people will likely be nerds who call themselves Whovians but that’s okay because they appreciate mind expanding concepts and do we have doozy!
Before leaving here is a link to a wonderful post using this quote as catalyst for sharing their gender journey. Here’s Ania’s story: https://alexandania.com/2015/01/04/wibbly-wobly-gendery-bendery/
